Introduction

Houston Texas Firm Applied US Patent For Low Cost Acid Etching/Frosting Alternative Waterborne Glass Coating System

SKS PolyTech, LLC, a Houston, Texas based research and development firm has applied for a United States Patent (patent pending) for its high performance waterborne glass frosting coating process. The result of several years in development, this new process is designed to replace acid etching commonly in use.

This patented process makes the current, extremely hazardous, fuming, corrosive hydrofluoric acid (70%) solution process of glass etching/frosting application easily replaceable.

Following are the few benefits for using these coatings:

  • Water based with very low VOC
  • Non-corrosive
  • Lowest bonding temperature (350°F or 177°C)
  • UV blocking
  • Excellent Scratching resistance
  • Excellent resistance to mild acids, alkalis, alcohols and water

APPLICATIONS:

1. Glass containers involve wine bottles, glassware such as dishes and vases

2. Glass for decoration of automotive windshields, glass-topped stoves and oven doors, as well as shower doors and other frosted or decorated glass panels

3. Non-reflecting glass Surface for high-end framing, which is also known (in USA particularly) as “non-glare” surface.

The company intends to partner with selected OEM and after-market glass and automotive windshield manufacturers, commercial and residential window makers and glass wine bottles manufacturers to deliver a value added model to consumers. The company maintains a research and manufacturing facility in Houston, Texas, USA. For additional information please contact:
